Exam Guide: 98-364 database fundamentals

Welcome to our 98-364 database fundamentals Exam Guide. This is an Entry level exam and no prior knowledge is required, ideal for those who:

  • Are new to SQL Server world.
  • Would like to master the basics of SQL Server.
  • Aim to get first certification in SQL Server.
  • Would like increase their confidence and get a new job.

There are 5 sections that you should study (Microsoft page).

  • Understanding Core Database Concepts (23 percent)
  • Creating Database Objects (23 percent)
  • Manipulating Data (26 percent)
  • Understanding Data Storage (17 percent)
  • Administering a Database (11 percent)

Below we provide learning plans in sequence we recommend to study it with links to other pages.

The first step is to gain good understanding of database concepts which can help you have strong foundations and make further learning easier. I recommend to start with the learning plan below.

It is not part of the exam to install SQL Server however from my experience it is highly benefitial to do it and it helps a lot when you apply for jobs or have to do real life work therefore we have included it. This learning plan also helps you set up Microsoft AdventureWorks Samples Databases.

It's time to learn the basics of T-SQL Querying using Microsoft AdventureWorks Sample Database.
